Singer Akon tweeted yesterday, The contract for AKON CITY in Senegal was just signed. Looking forward to potential hosting there.
The city of the future
Last year early plans for the futuristic town were announced. The project carries out a “100% crypto-based city with Akoin at the center of transactional life.” The metropolis would become Senegal’s first accredited city as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It is built on a given 2,000-acre parcel by the president of Senegal.
Reports hint at Mbodience, a short drive from the new international airport in Senegal, as the land at the question. Last week, SAPCO, Senegal’s state-owned tourism agency, signed a “memorandum of understanding” with the 45-year-old businessman.
Akon City is a long-term project, according to an interview given on radio station Power 106 from November. “It is a building block for 10 years so they do it in phases. They began construction in March 2019, and stage two will be 2025,” said Akon.
The Akoin as Future of Africa
But the Akoin will soon reveal its beta program, according to its website. It is the cornerstone of the three-part vision of the Akoin team to empower emerging entrepreneurs with digital and real-life tools and services and enable brands to unlock the power of the growing economy in Africa.
Akon may not be alone as a crypto-mogul in pro-Africa. While Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter and Square, was quiet on Akoin, he views Africa widely as the future of cryptospherics. reports last year that Dorsey, who has pledged integration of Bitcoin into both Twitter and Square, attended a Bitcoin meetup in Nigeria. He said, “Africa will define the future especially the bitcoin one!.
